Lefteris comes from a Greek lineage where home-made food was at the heart of both family and social life, with recipes and secrets being passed down from generation to generation.
From an early age, Lefteris accompanied his papous (grandfather) on fishing trips in the Aegean Sea. The fish was then cooked and sold in his grandfather’s taverna, a rustic and authentic walled yard to the front of his house, filled with large barrels of retsina. The menu was simple: fresh fish caught that day, Greek salad, grown in the yard by his yia yia (grandmother) and plenty of retsina to wash it down….
At The Aegean, Lefteris aims to bring, not only the magic of the dishes that have been passed down through his family but, also, a taste of true authentic Greek culture. Stepping into the Aegean restaurant and meeting this welcoming and patriotic host is like stepping back into your most treasured Greek holiday.
